CAGD 373 Final - Post 1

Sprint 1 begins

For this first sprint, I took on some of the complex buildings and props for the scene, as well as an annotated map and UI elements. The first thing I did was create an annotated map of the scene that we could use as a quick reference for where everything should be positioned and the rough shape and sizes of buildings and other elements.

I color-coded all the different categories of objects, including Background buildings, structural elements, water, terrain, trees, and main buildings.

Once this was complete, I began working on the arena, the largest of the main buildings. The size was a little tricky to pin down due to low reference available online, but I think it went well and the overall building turned out very good.

After the arena itself, I created the associated props, including the decorative pillars, roped gate, windows, etc. The wrap around the sphere was the trickiest thing to get right, but once I figured it out it was very satisfying to finish up.

In between modelling, I created a UI asset for the coin counter meant to resemble the one found in the official game.

Then, I got to work on the post office. This building was a little more difficult than the arena as it has a visible connected interior and exterior. I was able to keep both sides connected and attach the two side buildings on without too much difficulty.

Lastly, I made all of the props for the interior, including the packages, table, other decorations, and mail cart full of boxes.

Overall, I am very happy with how everything is turning out so far and I'm excited to continue into the next sprint.
